Internship Opportunities
The Orange County Historical Museum is offering two internships for Summer 2013. This is a 150-hour internship, and the Museum will work with the interns if they are using the internship for school credit.
The interns will work with the staff of the Orange County Historical Museum to mount a special exhibit and update permanent exhibits in the North Gallery. The goal of this work is for the North Gallery of the Museum to have a more visitor-friendly exhibit space by August 2013. The intern will receive training and experience in the creation of exhibit labels, exhibit interactives, the care of artifacts on exhibit, the monitoring of artifacts through PastPerfect, and mounting an exhibit. Time permitting the internship may also involve the rehousing of artifacts or creating digital copies of historical documents.
Candidate should be a senior in a history, public history, or museum studies program, or a graduate student in a history, public history, or museum studies program. Candidates must have the ability to follow directions and to lift and carry 20lbs. Basic computer skills required, experience with Excel and neat handwriting are a plus.
