Kara Old, an Accelerated Master's program graduate student, is a History Education major from Jamestown, North Carolina. Kara's current history interests include diving deeper into memory and memorialization of events, particularly in the 20th century. Whether in a classroom or working with the Education Department of a museum, she wants to make history accessible and engaging.
She decided to come to Appalachian State for her undergraduate studies because of the education program, and applied for her graduate studies because of how much the history department has to offer in terms of resources and support. She says, "The history professors here highly prioritize both research and education, and I look forward to learning more from them!"
