The womens and civil rights movements, begun decades earlier and as controversial as ever, continuted to evolve during the nation's Bicentennial period. This program focuses on the changing momentum of feminism, hampered by its failure to secure broad ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, and the heated confrontations that arose over affirmative action and busing.
