Bachelor of Arts in History

The Bachelor of Arts degree in History consists of 36 semester hours beyond the core curriculum history requirement, including 33 hours of course work and History 4100 (Senior Seminar).

The 33 hours must be distributed among the three geographic fields of study:

  1. European
  2. United States
  3. Non-Western, including Africa, Asia, Latin America, and/or the Middle East.

Majors take a minimum of 15 semester hours in one of the areas listed above, and a minimum of nine hours in each of the two remaining fields. No more than 15 semester hours from the 2000 level may be used to fulfill these requirements. History majors seeking the BA degree are also required to document proficiency in a foreign language equivalent to courses 1010 through 1050, and to complete a minor in a related discipline.
